Duties

• Safely operate various types of vehicles including school buses, paratransit vans, and other commercial vehicles to transport children, staff, and authorized visitors.
• Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure secure transportation at all times.
• Assist in managing behavior during transit by applying effective behavior management techniques and maintaining a calm, friendly demeanor.
• Communicate clearly with children, parents, staff, and colleagues in English or multilingual settings to coordinate schedules and address any concerns.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections, mechanical checks, and basic maintenance to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition.
• Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and safety reports for accountability and compliance purposes.
• Provide excellent customer service by creating a welcoming environment for children and their families during pickups and drop-offs.

Experience

• Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles, preferably with school bus driving or paratransit services.
• Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for engaging with diverse communities.
• Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and basic troubleshooting to handle minor mechanical issues confidently.
• Experience working with children or in childcare settings is preferred; understanding behavior management techniques is a plus.
• Ability to follow detailed routes and schedules accurately while maintaining safety standards at all times.
• Demonstrated professionalism in customer service environments with excellent writing skills for record keeping.
• Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type being operated; clean driving record required. Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
