The Role: Childcare Cook
We’re looking for a dependable, caring, and positive individual to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children from infancy through school age.

This role is essential to our daily rhythm and the wellbeing of our children. You’ll have the opportunity to work independently while still being part of a warm, collaborative team.

No experience? No problem.
We will train the right person—what matters most is your attitude, reliability, and heart for children.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and serve simple, child-friendly meals and snacks
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines with care and consistency
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and running smoothly
  • Manage food inventory and communicate supply needs
  • Occasionally support classrooms during transitions or staff breaks
  • Build positive relationships with children and staff

  • Willingness to learn (food handler certification can be obtained after hire)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Childcare Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks to children from infancy through school age. This role is vital to the health and daily rhythm of our center and is best suited for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their work, and finds joy in serving children.

No professional kitchen experience? No problem!

Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve simple, child-friendly meals and snacks according to our daily menus and nutritional guidelines.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and served following proper food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and cheerful kitchen space.
  • Receive, store, and inventory food and kitchen supplies.
  • Assist with menu planning and communicate supply needs to the leadership team.
  • Step into a classroom setting to support teachers and children when needed (e.g., during transitions, breaks, or staff absences).
  • Build positive relationships with children and staff while modeling professionalism and kindness.

Qualifications

  • Basic food prep and kitchen safety skills; food handler’s certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass all required background screenings and fingerprinting.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to multitask in a busy environment.
  • Willingness to jump in wherever needed with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Love for children and a commitment to creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs., stand for extended periods, and move quickly throughout the facility.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
