Forest Warren Human Services is looking for team members who are willing to assist us in making a difference in people’s lives. This is a career with impact. This position provides supervision to a diverse unit compromised of up to five caseworkers who provide Foster Care, Family Group Decision Maker, Independent Living and Parent Education services. In this role, the supervisor will assist in providing education to parents within Warren County, provide workers with insight to assist them in enhancing their abilities in their specific programs, and oversee compliance with program regulations. This position offers a flexible work environment, robust training program and great benefits. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and two years of professional experience in public or private social work. Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or other related social sciences.

Clearances: Must have Act 34 PA State Police Criminal History, Act 151 PA Child Abuse and FBI clearances prior to employment. Other clearances may be required depending on the employee’s state of residence. All clearances must reflect acceptable results. Clearances are to be renewed every five years.

Responsibilities

  • · A mandated reporter at all times.

· Ensure children’s safety at all times.

· Maintain confidentiality in regards to consumer information and records in accordance with governing regulations and laws.

· Interprets laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to child welfare services.

· Supervises and trains up to four (4) Children and Youth Caseworkers and one (1) Social Service Aide.

· Assigns new cases and monitors caseloads of assigned workers.

· Provides training to child welfare staff regarding child welfare and agency policies and procedures.

· Assesses assigned caseworkers’ skills and abilities and completes required Performance Evaluation Reviews.

· Prepares reports, correspondence, and other materials as required.

· Participate in team meetings for the purpose of developing service plans to address the needs of children and their families.

· Direct and monitor assigned caseworkers’ activities to promote thoroughness, accuracy and timeliness; and to ensure consistency with statute, laws, bulletins, best practice standards and policies and procedures.

· Manages/supervises employees and work activities to consistently achieve a smooth/timely work flow, high level of quality and quantity.

· Participate in staff meetings and supervisor meetings.

· Reviews and approves casework plans, assessments, contacts, timesheets, correspondence, court reviews, emergency custody and dependency petitions, and other required paperwork.

· Maintains an appropriate and professional appearance.

· Work collaboratively with social service agencies, hospitals, courts, and other community resources.

· Demonstrate a sensitive awareness of cultural/ethnic diversity and age-related issues.

· Maintain a confidential and professional demeanor when dealing with social service agencies, community resources, families, and general public.

· Takes the initiative to identify and resolve work unit/agency problems and perceives full dimension of problems and limitations.

· Develops corrective solutions to unit/agency problems and follows through to conclusion.

· Maintains cooperative and positive work relationships.

· Promotes teamwork and cooperation, and fair and equitable treatment of others and continuously strives to improve operations, staff and instills team spirit

· Performs public speaking for educational purposes in the community, schools, etc.

· Complete mandatory new supervisor training offered through the State and 20 hrs of training yearly thereafter.

· May be required to carry a small caseload on an as-needed basis and perform all required casework functions associated with those cases.

· Provide transportation to clients utilizing agency vehicles.

· Must have daily access to reliable transportation.

· Perform other related work as required. Crosses program lines when the need arises.

· Work toward a trauma informed, coordinated, and collaborative system of services and support driven by the youth, adults, and families it serves.

· Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, but employee is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in achieving objectives.

· Knowledge of federal, state and county rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

· Knowledge of Agency practices and procedures.

· Knowledge of computer software, such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

· Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Must have the ability to provide technical and administrative guidance in regard to overall operation of the department’s functions.

· Must possess critical thinking skills for evaluating and implementing work results that meet federal, state, and local bulletins, policies, laws and initiatives

· Must handle conflict constructively.

· Must possess ability to function independently, have flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with consumers, coworkers, and others.

· Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, families, agency staff and other community agencies.

· Ability to implement developed training programs.

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

· Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others.

· Ability to interpret and apply relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing agency services.

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

· Ability to exchange information with others courteously, clearly and concisely; present thoughts logically and in a clear, concise and courteous manner.

· Ability to walk on uneven ground, uphill grades and climb stairs.

· Ability to sit and/or drive for long periods.

· Ability to bend and lift up to 40lbs.

· Ability to reach above shoulder level and below waist level.

· Ability to operate a personal computer, cell phone and digital camera.

· Ability to practice organizational and stress management skills.

· Must strive to be trauma aware—to understand the dynamics and impact of trauma on the lives of individuals, families, and communities. Pay: From $25.65 per hour
