Children's Foster Care Case Manager

  • POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstration of the following in the position: Ability to assess individual and family strengths, limitations and needs; Non-judgmental, strength based, positive attitude towards families in crisis; Ability to synthesize information and write thorough reports; Ability to work independently and as an effective team member; Sensitivity to and awareness of cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic differences; Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
  • Attend and ensure compliance with all review meetings, such as CFTs, FTDMs, review meetings and court hearings when possible
  • Ensure all intake documentation and reports remain compliant.
  • Meet with foster parents and children as required by treatment plan and or program.
  • Ensures all WAC mandated services are compliant.
  • Comply with all reporting duties, written documentation, and proper reporting to all required parties (LD, Social workers, BRS Consultants, parents etc.)
  • Work in collaboration with Direct Care staff to coordinate services. Provide guidance to direct care staff as it pertains to supports/services needed in accordance to the child’s case plan(s).
  • Provide direct services to children and families in accordance to case plans(s).
  • Monitor and support child educational plans and attend school meetings.
  • Works directly with Program Manager and Case Manager Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate positive decision-making skills in accordance to WAC regulations and program regulation.
  • Be culturally responsive to the Child’s needs.
  • Be able to work in a team setting.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule rotation (24/7)
  • Knowledgeable of relevant community resources.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with the Department, Community resources/members, foster parents and K- Connections Staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and web-based applications
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Emotionally able to work with information that is traumatic in nature as well as work with individuals or families in crisis or experiencing trauma

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse work environment and community
  • A valid driver’s license is required, auto insurance and reliable vehicle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required
  • Ability to sit on the floor, crouch, or kneel regularly during home visits
  • Ability to lift children if necessary
  • Ability to sit in car frequently

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree in Social Work, Human Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, or Child and Family Studies required
  • 2 years’ experience in direct service to children, youth, and families
  • Experience and understanding of child, adolescent, and family development and of various treatment principles and interventions
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Drivers license, proof of auto insurance and reliable transportation is required
  • CPR, First Aid Certifications (within first 30 days)
  • Mantoux TB test record (upon hire)
  • Must be available to be on call 24/7. If program requires it
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Must be 21 years old
