Job Summary

Responsible for performing professional work in the field of mental/behavioral health assessment, treatment and prevention. Therapist will provide therapy to child victims who have experienced sexual abuse, severe physical abuse or witnessed violent crime. Therapeutic services will also be provided to non-offending families members as needed. This work is confidential and requires training in trauma focused counseling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Conduct diagnostic assessments, formulate recommendations, and provide ongoing psychotherapy for child, adolescent clients using individual, family, and group modalities.

· Maintain and complete accurate records, statistical data, treatment plans, progress notes and all other necessary documentation and duties pertaining to client cases to ensure CAC and grant compliance.

· Document in a clear, accurate, concise and professional manner.

· Maintain positive and direct communication with the Clinical Supervisor and Program Director, especially regarding case consultation, program development and policy change.

· Provide crisis counseling and intervention services to families in an ongoing manner as necessary.

· Provide information regarding dynamics of abuse and the multidisciplinary response.

· Assist with access to treatment and other services.

· Provide continued clinical assessment of child sexual abuse victims and their non-offending family members throughout the interview, disclosure and legal processes and relay pertinent information to multidisciplinary team members as needed.

· Create and maintain forms, brochures, and referral resources for child and family.

· Attend and participate in monthly case review meetings as part of the MDT.

· Participate in ongoing professional development. Prepare and present on topics of mental/behavioral health to agency staff, other professionals, and the community at large.

· Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in regular individual and group supervision as well as monthly staff meetings. Attend agency All Staff Meetings.

· Present a professional image and maintain professional behavior and boundaries at all times both, in the office, and when interacting as a representative of the agency within the community.

· Maintain and demonstrate an attitude of respect towards clients, coworkers, supervisors and other agencies and professionals at all times.

· Provide culturally appropriate and culturally sensitive services.

· Uphold all ethical and legal standards regarding client confidentiality.

· Adhere to the Diocese of Lansing’s Code of Ethics and also code of ethics as directed by licensure.

· Comply with all agency policies and procedures.

· Commit to the philosophy of continuous improvement.

· Perform duties in keeping with Catholic social teachings.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Must hold a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Professional Counseling.

Experience working with diverse populations.
