Job Summary:
The
Chiller Mechanic
provides
operations, maintenance, and repair (OM&R)
support for HVAC/R and integrated control systems throughout the base. This role ensures that all chiller and refrigeration systems operate safely and efficiently through inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform
preventive maintenance (P.M.)
following manufacturer specifications, codes, and standards.
Operate and maintain
chemical water treatment programs
for closed-loop HVAC systems, including chilled water systems.
Manage a
comprehensive refrigerant recovery program
ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Follow all applicable
technical orders and commercial best practices
for requesting, receiving, installing, testing, and repairing HVAC and chiller components.
Prepare detailed written reports after inspections, repairs, tests, and certifications.
Implement
quality assurance and safety programs
per Vectrus, OSHA, and USAF standards.
Participate in and comply with structured
training and development programs
.
Maintain a
clean, organized, and professional work environment
.
Properly utilize and safeguard all government and contractor property and tools.
Accurately record time and administrative data.
Perform other assigned duties as required.
Required Experience:
High School Diploma
(one year of related experience may substitute one year of education if degree required).
Minimum
5 years’ experience
in the operations, maintenance, and repair of industrial HVAC/chiller systems.
Liebert CRAC units (chilled water/refrigerant types)
Petra chillers/DX units (75-100 tons)
Copeland refrigeration units
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Chilled water supply pumps
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
EPA 608 Universal Certification
(Core, Type I, II, and III).
Documented completion of
HVAC/R system training
(certificate or diploma).
U.S. Citizenship
and valid
U.S. Passport
required.
SECRET Security Clearance
(must be current before deployment).
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
(manual transmission required).
Fluent in
English
(verbal and written).
Ability to pass flight line access testing, medical, dental, drug screening, and background checks.
Successful completion of
CBRN defense training
, including fit testing with DoD-issued protective gear.
