Chiller Technician

About the Role

We are looking for experienced Chiller Technicians to join a facilities maintenance team supporting a major healthcare project in Qatar. The role involves operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of chillers and chilled-water plant systems in accordance with strict safety and hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and maintain centrifugal, screw, or reciprocating chillers and related systems (pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, expansion vessels).
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, bearing checks, alignment, valve servicing, filter cleaning, and refrigerant leak inspection.
• Conduct start-up, shutdown, commissioning, and performance testing; record operating parameters and prepare service reports.
• Diagnose faults using gauges, meters, and diagnostic tools; carry out or escalate corrective repairs.
• Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined-space entry, and PPE compliance.
• Coordinate with HVAC, mechanical, and electrical teams for integrated maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, job cards, and spare part usage records.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or technical certificate in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Mechanical trade (minimum 3 years).
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience in chiller or HVAC plant maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with chillers, pumps, VFDs, and control systems.
• Understanding of refrigerants, handling procedures, and relevant safety standards.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings and perform diagnostic testing.
• Experience in hospital or commercial building maintenance is an advantage.
