Job Description:
Full-Time ECE Teacher Assistant – Toddler Program
We are seeking a warm, dependable, and team-oriented English and/or Chinese (Cantonese) Teacher Assistant to join our Toddler Program. The Teacher Assistant works closely with the lead teacher to support a nurturing, relationship-based classroom and help implement a developmentally appropriate, project-based curriculum inspired by toddlers’ interests.
Responsibilities include supporting daily routines (diapering/toileting, meals, naps, and transitions), assisting with small-group activities, maintaining a safe and engaging environment, and fostering toddlers’ social-emotional and language development.
The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of toddler development, demonstrates patience and responsiveness, and serves as a positive language and behavior role model in English and/or Chinese (Cantonese).
Essential Duties – Teacher Assistant (Toddler Program)
- Supports the lead teacher and teaching team in implementing the English/Chinese portion of the curriculum using a Project-Based Approach
- Assists with preparing classroom materials, documentation, communication boards, and bi-weekly newsletters as directed by the lead teacher
- Supports positive communication with parents and helps welcome and involve families in classroom and school activities
- Interacts with children throughout the day and assists with large- and small-group activities conducted in English/Chinese
- Participates in designated meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions
- Assists the lead teacher in gathering observations and documentation to support DRDP assessments
- Supports curriculum planning by sharing observations and insights about children’s development and interests
- Assists the teaching team in preparing the classroom environment and materials for CLASS, ECRs, QRIS, and other program evaluations
- Helps set up and facilitate open-ended learning experiences and supports children’s exploration and development through responsive interactions
- Assists with preparation for school performances, events, and special activities
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Has units in infants/toddlers
- Is eligible for an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher permit or higher; a AA degree is preferred
- Able to speak, read, and write Chinese and English fluently
- Is able to communicate with children and parents from a variety of Socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures both orally and in writing
- Is able to use technology for planning, documentation, and meetings
- Works collaboratively as part of a teaching team
- Is able to manage a variety of tasks and to prioritize in order to meet deadlines
- Is able to lift at least 40 pounds
- Is able to work in the USA legally
