Christian School Science Teacher - 8th-11th Grade

Sunlight Christian Academy is seeking either a part-time OR full-time science teacher for the 26/27 school year.

Part Time - 7:30-12:00 / High School Chemistry and Anatomy

Full Time - 7:30-3:30 / High School Chemistry, Anatomy and 8th Grade Science

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive science curricula aligned with educational standards and biblical values, covering topics such as biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
  • Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate innovative learning technology and hands-on laboratory activities to enhance student understanding.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments, dissections, and research projects in areas like organic chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, and cell biology to promote experiential learning.
  • Manage classroom environments effectively through behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques to create a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Prepare students for standardized testing and academic assessments by providing targeted tutoring and instructional support tailored to individual needs.
  • Mentor students academically and spiritually, offering guidance in research projects, college preparation, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and integrating faith-based perspectives into science education.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, lesson plans, assessments, and laboratory reports while ensuring compliance with school policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to science education, research laboratory experience, special education practices, and educational administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Proven classroom experience teaching middle to high school students in a Christian school setting or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of core science disciplines including biology (cell biology, genetics), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (including differential equations), and mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, lesson planning, and assessment strategies.
  • Proficiency with learning technology tools and digital resources to enhance instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability in laboratory research techniques such as dissection procedures, microbiology experiments, molecular biology methods, and scientific research documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, staff, and the broader school community.
  • Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an environment of respect and curiosity.
  • Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and experience tutoring or mentoring students toward academic success.

Pay: $30,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
