Responsibilities
- This position is for a junior high / high school teacher. (Some combined grade classes.)
- Design and implement comprehensive ELA curriculum that aligns with Christian values and educational standards, including literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary instruction (OR use an existing curriculum we have.)
- Enjoy admin who truly care about their work family.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and classroom assessments.
- Collaborate with colleagues on instructional design, curriculum development, and school-wide initiatives to promote a Christ-centered learning environment.
- Provide academic advising and support for students’ personal growth, including tutoring in literacy, creative writing, linguistics, and other related subjects.
- Maintain organized records of lesson plans, student performance data, and classroom activities in accordance with educational administration standards.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages respect, discipline, and active participation aligned with biblical principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English Literature, or a related field; higher education teaching experience preferred.
- Proven experience working with children or teens within a private or Christian school setting.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment methods including standardized testing preparation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor students effectively and collaborate with staff members.
- Knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style, AP style guidelines, proofreading techniques, and copy editing skills.
- Organizational skills necessary for lesson planning, instructional delivery, and maintaining accurate student records.
