<Job Summary>
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Church Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our faith community. In this vital role, you will manage all aspects of church financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will support the church’s mission by providing accurate financial reporting, maintaining transparency, and fostering sound financial practices. <Duties>
- Submit to the Senior Pastor, Church Treasurer and Office Manager a listing of all checks written during the prior month.
- Prepare the monthly financial reports for the Church Council and the individual ministry teams.
- Prepare for and cooperates with those appointed to perform a yearly audit of the church’s financial records.
- Prepare the annual budget and year-end financial reports for the annual meeting.
- Responsible for all accounts receivable and accounts payable as directed by the Office Manager and Senior Pastor.
- Perform other necessary and related work as may be assigned.
<Requirements>
- An accounting background and college degree, or a verifiable record of employment with a minimum of five years’ experience performing the duties/tasks described above.
- Practical experience in fund-based accounting and account reconciliation.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including QuickBooks Pro and Excel.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in account reconciliation and report generation.
- A commitment to strong interpersonal relationships, teamwork, and support of church ministries.
- Have the ability to vary work schedule, when needed.
- All accounts, transactions and records pertaining to the Church, staff, and/or its members, as well as all church business must be always kept confidential from all but authorized individuals.
- Must live a Christian-based life, and a willingness to engage in the life of Mountain View Lutheran Church.
- Must pass background check.
Machines and Equipment Used: Various office equipment including but not limited to a copier, telephone,computer equipment and a ten-key calculator.
Typical Physical Demands: Walking, sitting, bending and lifting.
Pay: $15.15 - $22.00 per hour
