Baxter Aerospace is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative
Circuit Board Designer with expertise in
Altium Designer to support the development of mission-critical electronic systems for aerospace applications. This position plays a key role in the design and layout of
high-reliability printed circuit boards (PCBs) used in avionics, control systems, power management, and other flight hardware. The successful candidate will bring deep technical proficiency, precision, and a commitment to excellence in design quality and compliance with aerospace standards.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
- Design and develop high-reliability PCBs using Altium Designer, including multilayer, rigid-flex, and high-density interconnect (HDI) boards.
- Create detailed schematic diagrams, library components, and PCB layouts following electrical, mechanical, and thermal constraints.
Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure compatibility and optimize board performance for aerospace environments.
- Perform design rule checks (DRC), signal and power integrity analyses, and ensure EMI/EMC compliance.
- Generate comprehensive fabrication and assembly packages, including Gerbers, ODB++, BOMs, and manufacturing notes compliant with IPC and NASA/ESA standards.
- Conduct design reviews, manage ECN/ECO processes, and support prototype bring-up and hardware testing.
- Interface with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and traceability of components and assemblies.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with AS9100 and DO-254 quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3–5+ years of professional PCB layout and design experience using Altium Designer.
- Solid understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal design principles.
- Demonstrated experience with high-speed design, controlled impedance routing, and power distribution networks.
- Familiarity with IPC-2221, IPC-6012, and IPC-7351 standards.
- Knowledge of thermal management, vibration, and radiation considerations for aerospace electronics.
Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with DO-254 (Design Assurance for Airborne Electronic Hardware) or similar certification processes.
- Familiarity with ECAD-MCAD integration and 3D modeling workflows.
- Experience designing for harsh environments (temperature extremes, shock, radiation).
- Prior experience working with avionics or space-grade components and suppliers.
- Working knowledge of simulation tools such as HyperLynx, PSpice, or Ansys SIwave.
