Circuit Enforcement Caseworker

Position Summary

The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office Division of Child Support is seeking to hire a case worker in our Circuit Enforcement Department to draft motions to intervene into circuit court cases to enforce, and collect current child support, child support arrears, collect medical support, collect spousal support (when ordered by the court), and conduct periodic reviews for modification.

  • Responsibilities and Duties

· Drafts motions to intervene, common law judgements, agreed orders to modify support, contempt pleadings, revocations of probated sentences, and terminations of support obligations in circuit level cases.

· Prepares hearing review checklists and prints required documentation for scheduled hearings

· Receives and responds to all telephone or written requests for information once the pleading or motion is filed.

· Follows up on cases where payments have been redirected through the Division of Child Support Enforcement to determine appropriate enforcement action.

· Prepares civil summonses, case data sheets and respondent information sheets for child support detectives when personal service is required

* Calculates child support obligations, delinquencies, and total balances

* Enters a detailed summary of each case handled in the child support system

* Works performance related reports

*Accepts payments from obligated parents via phone

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must be a mature individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to work with the public in a professional manner, showing respect, patience, and understanding. Exhibit the ability to follow direction from others and follow through with appropriate information or action when requested. Ability to retain detailed information and high level of attention to detail is needed. Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and be able to work independently.

EDUCATION: 2 years of college coursework is preferred

EXPERIENCE: Legal support training or schooling, administrative or public assistance work and/or office work is preferred

Salary: $41,600.00 per year/ $20.00 per hour (funding in in whole or in part from federal, DCSS, or other state funds).
