The City of Blair, NE is hiring a Circulation Assistant to join our Library Department! This part-time, non-exempt position is a vital front-line role that supports daily circulation services, assists patrons, and helps keep the Library welcoming, organized, and running smoothly. Perform all aspects of circulation services including checking materials in and out, renewing and recalling items, and registering new borrowers.

Explain library policies and procedures to patrons in a friendly and professional manner.

Collect fines, fees, and donations and prepare daily cash reports.

Provide reader's advisory support and assist patrons in selecting library materials.

Respond to patrons in person and over the phone regarding library materials, services, and general information.

Maintain organization of the library collection and support library displays and exhibits.

Identify overdue or damaged materials and assist with searching for missing or lost items.

Assist patrons with the copy machine and other library equipment and respond to equipment issues.

Check in and distribute newspapers, magazines, and periodicals to appropriate areas.

Retrieve, separate, and check in materials from the book drop.

Perform other duties as requested.
This is a 19-hour-per-week position and requires:

Closing the library 1-2 evenings per week

Working 1-2 Saturdays per month

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: Customer service experience required (library experience is a plus).

Skills: Strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work with patrons of all ages (including teens and young children).

Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work in a public service role that directly supports the Blair community.
