Job Summary
The Circulation Assistant provides front-line customer service to library patrons in
person and by phone. This role supports daily circulation operations, assists with library
accounts and self-service technology, and helps patrons find and use library materials
and spaces. The Circulation Assistant is often the first point of contact and plays a key
role in creating a welcoming library experience.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Provide front-line customer service to patrons in person and by phone, assisting with
library accounts, materials, questions, general needs and directions.

Perform circulation and materials handling functions including check-in and check-
out,
shelving, processing daily notifications to the public, and maintaining collections.

Assist patrons with library technology and equipment, including public computers,
self-check kiosks, copiers, and meeting room audiovisual equipment.

Support access to collections through readers' advisory, basic reference assistance,
pulling materials for branches, and maintaining first-floor readiness.

Protect patron confidentiality, and complete other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Six months of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Working knowledge of common computer software and library systems.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work independently with attention to detail and good task prioritization.

Accurate data entry and filing skills.

Ability to use sound judgment and follow established procedures.

WORK SCHEDULE
Work schedule will predominantly be normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 9 a.m.
to 6 p.m. or a variation thereof) Monday through Friday but may consist of weekend and
evening hours as well. Anyone who works for the library must be willing to work
anytime the library is open. Laramie County Library (Cheyenne) open hours are
Monday -- Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10:00
a.m.to
5:00 p.m. All employees are scheduled to attend monthly staff meetings and in-service
days in Cheyenne.
Benefits
This position receives paid time off for 13 holidays, vacation and sick leave, and an
annual personal day.
Employees are eligible to take vacation after six months of employment.
Employees may join the Cheyenne-Laramie County Employees Federal Credit
Union.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position requires moving moderately heavy materials such as carts, boxes, files,
and library
materials, and standing or walking for extended periods.
