JOB
Under the supervision of the Library Director and Circulation Department Head, this position performs a variety of computer oriented and clerical assistance functions of a moderately complex nature, which require judgment based on knowledge of the procedures and policies pertaining to the area of assignment. This work involves some initiative and judgment on procedural questions that are encountered, although decisions made are limited to established department policies.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Circulation/General DutiesShelves library materials in all departments.Inspects returned materials for damage, verifies date due, and computes and receives overdue fines. Reads and straightens shelves. Technical Services Duties: Unpacks boxes as needed, checks to see if packing slip reflects contents and make a note if item has future release date.Processes new items by stamping and applying labels and protective covering.Applies covers to books as needed.Types labels for Items as necessaryEnters data into the system to reflect deleted material.Makes needed revisions and corrections on materials. Repairs book covers, tapes/glues pages, and performs related maintenance on damaged materials
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical Requirements Work is performed in a busy library setting, subject to moderate noise. Able to maneuver heavy and sometimes bulky pieces of equipment. Ability to stand for most of a work shift, visual ability to read computer screen and perform various detailed tasks, ability to stoop, bend, twist, and turn to move materials from place to place within the
library.Work Schedule, Hours and Pay All positions will include morning, afternoon, with evening and up to every other weekend hours, including Sundays. Employees will be required to adapt to future schedule changes depending on library
