City of Brewer_Parks and Cemetery Laborer

The Parks and Cemetery Laborer will perform a variety of tasks within the City of Brewer to properly maintain its parks, playgrounds, cemeteries, and athletic fields throughout the summer months.

This position is for the end of May through the end of August.
(More hours may be available in the spring and fall).

Responsibilities include:

· Safe and efficient operation of landscaping machines such as a; push mower, trimmer, leaf blower, and power broom.
· Safe use of hand tools including; rakes, hand held saws, shovels, pruners, and other tools as needed.
· Diligent use of safety equipment; safety glasses, ear protection, reflective outerwear, and protective clothing as required.
· Push mowing and trimming of cemeteries, sections of various parks, and the river walk as needed.
· Assisting with recreation staff during set up and take down of events.
· Occasional heavy lifting such as trash removal at parks and along the river walk, as well as branches and other debris as needed.
· Assisting with painting of athletic fields.
· Applicants 18 years of age and older, with a valid driver’s license may, be have the additional duties of; driving pickup trucks, operating ride on mowers, tractors, and/or Gators.
· Perform a variety of maintenance duties including; painting, removal of vandalism, playground safety work, and other duties as needed.
· Ability to work independently, as well as with a team of ten coworkers.
· Support the Brewer Parks and Recreation Department’s policies regarding pool use, staff policies, and public relations

Requirements:

· Must be at least 17 years old to operate power equipment.
· Experience in landscaping, or parks and cemetery maintenance preferred but not required.
· Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
· Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
