Civics Tutor Student Hourly

Excel Zone provides robust tutoring in Civics, Digital Literacy, Writing, Math & Science. Group and embedded tutoring are offered in person, with 1-1 tutoring available both in person and online. The EXCEL! Zone is an energetic, fast-paced, and welcoming tutoring center for all CCD students, faculty, and staff. We seek someone who: - Is a self-starter and works well as part of a team. - Is willing to work with people from diverse backgrounds and practice deescalation tactics. - Foster an atmosphere of respect, patience, and encouragement. - Is enthusiastic about civic engagement.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Support students & staff with functional technology skills and learning platforms.Lead small group or one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on civic education topics (e.g., government structure, voting rights, community engagement).Tutor in person, online and as an embedded tutor in classrooms for adult learners.Develop supplemental resources related to relevant tutor tools.Support outreach via outposts on campus, and at special events (e.g. student workshops, High School Diploma events).

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This position fits well with Social and Behavioral Sciences, Paralegal Studies, and Civics-related programs. Students apply what they learn in these fields by supporting others with civic content as well as helping students develop communication and digital skills.
