American Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (AEL) is a well-established geotechnical and materials testing firm with over 24 years of experience serving public agencies, school districts, and private developers across Southern California. We provide a wide range of construction inspection, testing, and geotechnical services to ensure the highest level of quality and compliance for every project.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team and assist with project support, review of laboratory results, and coordination of materials testing and inspection services. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of balancing multiple responsibilities while ensuring smooth project operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Review laboratory testing results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Sign and stamp reports and test results as required.
  • Assist with project estimating, proposal preparation, and scheduling.
  • Support project management activities to ensure timely completion and client satisfaction.
  • Review and respond to RFIs related to ongoing projects.
  • Coordinate with field and lab personnel to maintain quality and consistency across all deliverables.
  • Conduct occasional site visits as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in civil or geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ASTM, AASHTO, and DSA testing standards a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
