We are now seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our expanding team.

This role is well suited for an engineer who brings strong technical knowledge and sound professional judgment but may feel constrained within a large corporate structure. At Cavanaugh’s Surveying Services, you will not be one of many. You will play a visible, integral role in our continued growth and in the success of the projects we deliver.

Position Overview

As a Civil Engineer with Cavanaugh’s Surveying Services, you will contribute to a wide range of land development and surveying-related design work. Typical responsibilities will include preparation of site grading plans, stormwater management design, erosion and sediment control plans, and related documentation for submission to PennDOT, PADEP, municipal authorities, and Conservation Districts. You will also participate in client meetings, township hearings, and other municipal proceedings as needed.

This position requires strong collaboration skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering technically accurate, high-quality work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Pennsylvania (required)
• P.E. license in New Jersey (preferred but not required)
• Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering experience, ideally within land development or site design
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and interpret plans, specifications, legal descriptions, and technical documents
• Familiarity with municipal review processes, stormwater regulations, and permitting procedures

Key Skills & Professional Attributes

• Strong understanding of stormwater management principles, erosion & sedimentation control design, and PADEP permitting
• Working knowledge of subdivision/land development processes
• Ability to collaborate effectively with township officials, state agencies, engineers, attorneys, and other project stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to represent the company professionally at zoning hearings, meetings, and public forums
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated

Pay: $96,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
