Job Description – Civil Estimation Engineer

Position: Civil Estimation Engineer
Location: Dubai, UAE
Experience: 3–4 Years (Minimum 3 years UAE experience preferred)
Industry: Building Construction / Contracting

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimation Engineer with a strong background in building construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, tender submissions, and cost analyses for residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use developments. The ideal candidate should possess excellent technical knowledge of civil construction works, materials, labor productivity, and UAE market rates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Estimation & Tendering

  • Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract requirements.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and project documents.
  • Analyze project scope and identify cost-effective construction methodologies.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil, structural, architectural, and external works.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Conduct rate analysis for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontract works.
  • Prepare tender submissions, bid summaries, and commercial proposals.
  • Coordinate with the design, procurement, and project teams during tender stages.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.

2. Cost Analysis & Budgeting

  • Develop project budgets and cost plans.
  • Perform value engineering and cost optimization exercises.
  • Compare estimated costs against actual project costs and identify variances.
  • Maintain updated databases of material rates, labor costs, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and cost reports as required.

3. Technical Coordination

  • Interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for estimation purposes.
  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors regarding technical and commercial clarifications.
  • Assist in preparing variations, claims, and change order estimates.
  • Support project teams with cost-related information during project execution.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare tender reports, bid comparison sheets, and management summaries.
  • Maintain proper records of all estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and client requirements.

5. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience in estimation for building construction projects.
  • Strong experience in residential, commercial, villa, high-rise, and industrial building projects.
  • Sound knowledge of UAE construction standards, materials, and market rates.
  • Experience in tendering for both public and private sector projects.

6. Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and estimation spreadsheets.
  • Experience with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, CostX, or equivalent quantity take-off software.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, architectural, and MEP drawings.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and tendering procedures is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with UAE Municipality and Authority requirements.

  • Reduction of estimation errors and cost deviations.
  • Successful support of project teams with cost-related information.
  • Identification of value engineering opportunities to improve project profitability.
  • Compliance with client requirements and tender specifications.
  • Preparation of detailed tender reports and management presentations.

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
