Civil Field Engineer

Beard Construction Group, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Field Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in heavy civil construction, including site supervision, quality control, RFIs, submittals, and field documentation. This role supports daily field operations, coordinates with office and project management teams, and ensures all work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site walkthroughs to monitor progress, verify safe work practices, and ensure all activities align with approved drawings and project specifications.
• Review construction drawings to identify discrepancies early and coordinate timely corrections with project teams.
• Manage and organize project documentation, including inspection reports, subcontractor updates, and safety compliance records.
• Facilitate effective communication between field and office teams to ensure accurate information flow and timely decision-making.
• Coordinate regularly with project managers and subcontractors to resolve issues such as material shortages, design clarifications, and field conflicts.
• Assist in monitoring project progress against the schedule by validating quantities, tracking critical path activities, and reporting potential risks.
• Collaborate with the estimating team to perform quantity takeoffs and support project cost tracking.
• Support daily planning and field operations by coordinating manpower, preparing material requests, and aligning work sequences with weekly and monthly schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience).
• 2–5 years of experience in heavy civil construction (concrete, earthwork, utilities, grading).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes and applicable codes.
• Experience preparing RFIs and supporting field engineering functions.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software is a plus.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Procore, MS Project, and Primavera P6

Salary: Competitive, DOE (Depends on Experience)
