Responsibilities:
Our newest opportunity is for a talented Civil Inspector to join our award-winning team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This critical role will be responsible for undertaking inspections on site in accordance with the civil related Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's)
Review construction drawings, specifications, and relevant codes to ensure structural works are executed as per approved design and standards.
Inspect structural elements including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, retaining walls, and other reinforced concrete or steel components during various stages of construction.
Monitor and verify the correct usage of materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and approved material submittals.
Ensure that formwork, rebar placement, and concrete pouring procedures comply with design and safety requirements.
Attend site inspections with contractors and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and clarify design details.
Prepare daily site inspection reports, highlighting progress, deviations, non-conformances, and other observations.
Coordinate with the contractor’s site team and other consultants to ensure structural works progress in accordance with the approved schedule.
Verify that temporary supports and structural safety measures are in place and properly maintained during construction.
Ensure all testing and inspection activities such as slump tests, cube tests, weld inspections, and bolt torque tests are carried out as required.
Monitor corrective actions taken by the contractor for non-conforming work and verify their implementation.
Attend progress and technical meetings as required by the project management.
Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi building codes, authority requirements, and health and safety regulations.
Coordinate with architectural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines to avoid conflicts and ensure smooth execution.
Provide input and recommendations on site-related structural concerns or design adjustments when necessary.
Support the resident engineer or site manager with reports, documentation, and inspection status updates.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 7-10 years of work experience partnered with a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Relevant experience in civil/structural inspection on large-scale commercial or mall projects.
Prior experience in Abu Dhabi or UAE construction projects is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of relevant codes (ACI, BS, ASTM), local regulations, and construction best practices.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Good communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
