Civil Litigation Attorney

A well-established law firm in Charlotte is seeking an attorney with 1–4 years of litigation experience and an interest in North Carolina workers’ compensation matters. The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral advocacy skills, deliver exceptional client service, and enjoy working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. This position offers an active caseload from day one, a flexible remote work policy, and generous benefits and leave programs. Candidates must be licensed to practice in North Carolina and be practice ready.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent client service through written and verbal communication, including case evaluations, strategy development, and ongoing updates
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests and manage document production
  • Engage with opposing counsel on settlement negotiations and pre-mediation or pre-trial disclosures
  • Prepare for and attend mediations; negotiate and document settlements
  • Develop hearing strategies, review and analyze compensability and disability issues
  • Prepare pre-trial agreements, witness lists, exhibits, motions, and supporting briefs
  • Represent clients before the Industrial Commission, including opening statements, examinations, and oral arguments
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including preparation of clients and expert witnesses
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and perform legal research for complex matters
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and manage a busy caseload with strong organization and efficiency
  • Utilize technology tools such as billing software, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and legal research platforms
