Civil Litigation Legal Assistant
Schroeter Goldmark & Bender (SGB) is hiring a Civil Litigation Legal Assistant with 5+ years of experience to maintain outstanding organization of the details of the partner's caseload, such as calendars, deadlines, records, logistics, filing, and drafting, in addition to collaborating with other legal staff on the team.

We are looking for an experienced professional to provide administrative and legal assistance to our legal teams in a fast-paced plaintiff practice. Below are the job responsibilities for this role:
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Calendar and Deadline Management 20%
- Maintain a high level of organization
- Calendar court deadlines
- Schedule and calendar meetings and conference calls for attorneys
- Closely monitor, manage, and communicate deadlines across cases and practice areas
II. Record and Research Management 50%
- Record management, including ordering and obtaining records as directed by attorneys (e.g. medical records, public records, etc.) and organizing, tracking, saving, and summarizing records received
- Conduct investigations and informal (third party) discovery in support of cases
- Research defendants, witnesses, and potential jurors
- Download, organize, and appropriately save incoming production
- Prepare and organize documents for discovery, experts, pleadings, etc.
- Effectively organize and save files in accordance with firm and attorney expectations
- Assist attorneys in locating documents for use at depositions, in court filings, and at trial
- Review and summarize documents, highlighting important evidence for attorneys
III. Logistics 10%
- Handle all expert communication and deposition logistics (e.g. prepare notices, arrange for the court reporter, etc.)
- Mange any travel logistics for attorneys, witnesses, experts, etc.
- Provide support to attorneys during trial preparation and trial
IV. Electronically File Materials with the Court 10%
- E-file materials with the court in compliance with court rules
V. Drafting 10%
- Draft chronologies for attorneys
- Draft correspondence for attorney review
Desired Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience providing legal assistance in a plaintiff practice
- Minimum 2 years of experience in civil law
- Working knowledge of state and federal court rules, including electronic filing procedures
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently, with self-motivation, initiative, and follow up.
- Fluidly prioritize directions from supervising attorneys and paralegals.
- Communicates in a professional and ethical manner.
- An interest in helping people seek justice.
- Experience with ProLaw and Digital War Room software preferred.
Office Location
SGB has a hybrid work schedule. Our main office is located in downtown Seattle (Rainier Square Building, 401 Union Street, Suite 3400). Administrative professionals are expected to be in the office on Mondays and Thursdays; and we understand everyone has different accessibility needs.
Scheduled Weekly Hours
SGB has a 37.5-hour work week, this may increase when our workload is heavier. The most common work schedule is Monday through Friday / 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
Salary
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $89,000 (depending on experience).
