The Law Offices of Ruben Ortiz has proudly served clients in Texas and New Mexico since 1998. We are a busy, growing firm handling Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, and Civil Litigation. Our team is dedicated to providing every client with personalized attention, compassionate advocacy, and strong results.

We are seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our San Antonio office. This role is critical to supporting our attorneys by managing litigation files, ensuring deadlines are met, and keeping clients informed. You will collaborate closely with our El Paso-based PI team via MyCase, phone, and virtual meetings, so strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and file petitions, complaints, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Manage all litigation deadlines (service, discovery, hearings, mediation, trial).
  • Draft and respond to discovery (interrogatories, requests for production, admissions).
  • Prepare initial disclosures and assist with disclosure compliance.
  • Organize, review, and summarize medical records, bills, and other evidence.
  • Coordinate with experts (medical, accident reconstruction, vocational, economic).
  • Assist attorneys with deposition prep, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case status, discovery responses, and litigation milestones.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in MyCase (our case management software).
  • Work closely with attorneys and case managers to ensure seamless handoff from pre-litigation to litigation.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience (personal injury preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Texas civil procedure (New Mexico experience a plus).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Spanish fluency is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in MyCase or other case management software preferred.
