Insurance defense law firm seeks a full-time, in-office Civil Litigation Paralegal/Case Manager to support the Managing Partner of a 13-attorney firm. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: Sugar Land, Texas (not remote)
Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize digital case files from intake through resolution
- Oversee medical records retrieval through third-party vendors, including preparing authorizations and subpoenas/DWQs, tracking requests, coordinating follow-ups, and organizing records upon receipt
- Coordinate with nurse paralegals regarding medical summaries and report key findings to the attorney and assist with updates to the carrier and client
- Review opposing parties’ discovery responses and assist in preparing clear, concise updates for the attorney, carrier, and client
- Track discovery and assist with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation
- Prepare and organize exhibits for hearings, depositions, and trial
- Coordinate with experts, clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Maintain deadlines, ticklers, and follow-ups across multiple files
- Attend and assist at trial, including exhibit management, witness coordination, and in-court support
· Work with clients to gather information and assist in preparing responses to written discovery
· Position includes billable work; however, there is no minimum billable hour requirement
· Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- 5+ years civil litigation experience (insurance defense preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Experience organizing, Bates labeling, and managing large document productions
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in:
- Microsoft Word
- Adobe Acrobat
- Working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Excel
- Case management systems (experience with Time Matters a plus)
