Civil Retrofit Engineer – Job Description

Location: Dubai, UAE

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Retrofit Engineer with strong expertise in civil repair works, building rehabilitation, structural assessment, waterproofing systems, and warehouse & facility upgrades. The ideal candidate must be capable of diagnosing structural, architectural, and surface-level issues in existing buildings, and proposing durable, technically sound retrofit solutions.
A solid understanding of UAE local authority bylaws, construction standards, and best practices is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Execution

• Manage and execute civil repair and retrofit projects from initiation to completion.
• Plan daily site activities and ensure that every stage progresses within the approved schedule and budget.
• Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to ensure smooth execution and continuous progress.

2. Structural & Civil Diagnostics

• Conduct detailed site inspections to assess the condition of buildings, warehouses, roofs, slabs, walls, expansion joints, and structural elements.
• Identify the root cause of civil defects such as:
• Cracks and structural deterioration
• Water seepage and infiltration
• Concrete spalling and reinforcement corrosion
• Settlement, deflection, or load-related issues
• Surface failures, coating failures, or substrate weakness
• Prepare detailed condition assessment reports with recommendations.

3. Civil Repairs & Retrofit Works

• Lead the implementation of civil repair and rehabilitation works, including:
• Concrete repairs (patching, jacketing, epoxy injection, anti-carbonation coatings)
• Structural strengthening (FRP, steel plate bonding, grouting, etc.)
• Waterproofing systems (roofs, wet areas, basements, expansion joints)
• Roofing refurbishment and protective coatings
• Masonry, plastering, flooring replacement, and finishing repairs
• Warehouse refurbishments (floor repairs, façade repairs, roof repair,loading dock upgrades)
• Define method statements, repair strategies, and material specifications.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Awareness

• Ensure all works comply with:
• Dubai Municipality (DM) regulations
• UAE Fire & Life Safety Code
• Trakhees, DDA, or relevant local authority standards
• Best practices in civil and structural safety
• Prepare supporting documents for authority approvals and inspections.

5. Site Supervision & Quality Assurance

• Supervise civil teams and technicians at site, ensuring safe, high-quality, and compliant workmanship.
• Conduct QA/QC inspections during each stage of repair and retrofit works.
• Maintain accurate site records, inspection logs, photographs, and daily progress reports.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience in civil repair, building retrofit, waterproofing, or structural rehabilitation.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the UAE is mandatory.
• Strong technical knowledge of civil repair systems, waterproofing solutions, and structural evaluation techniques.
• Ability to diagnose building defects and propose durable, practical solutions.
• Familiarity with UAE construction bylaws and local authority regulations.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Valid UAE Driving License is mandatory.
• Ability to join immediately is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
