The Claims Adjuster Trainee position in the Claims Department is designed to provide a foundational understanding of both first-party and third-party insurance claims handling. The role focuses on developing essential skills for advancing within Safety’s adjusting career paths. Responsibilities include managing customer service interactions with insured individuals, third parties, and agents, beginning with the initial claim filing and extending through to the claim’s final resolution. This role has the potential for a hybrid work schedule, contingent upon job performance.
Responsibilities
Initiates the first notice of loss using Safety’s proprietary software programs.
Investigates, analyzes, and assesses liability and damages by collecting information from insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
Interprets and applies policy coverages under Safety’s various insurance policies.
Utilizes multiple software programs and databases to process and adjust claims.
Implements appropriate surcharges according to Massachusetts General Laws.
Identifies opportunities for subrogation.
Cultivates and maintains relationships with Safety’s agents through clear communication and strong customer service skills.
Establishes timely and adequate claims reserves in line with Safety’s guidelines.
Evaluates, negotiates, and secures equitable settlements for claims submitted.
Detects, investigates, and refers potential fraudulent claims to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
Delivers excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and resolving issues within established authority levels.
Performs additional activities as required.
Qualifications
A college degree or insurance-related coursework/experience is required.
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
Excellent communication skills are essential.
Ability to cooperate and work effectively within a team environment.
