About the Role
Reagan Companies is growing, and we are looking for a Claims Advocate to join our Commercial Claims Team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of workers’ compensation claims and also wants to use that knowledge to make a meaningful impact for clients.
This role is ideal for a claims professional who is not satisfied with simply processing claims. We are looking for someone who wants to dig into the details, understand what is happening, communicate clearly with clients, and help drive claims toward positive outcomes.
As a Claims Advocate, you will serve as a trusted resource for our commercial clients throughout the workers’ compensation claim process. You will work closely with clients, insurance carrier claim adjusters, TPAs, Risk Consultants, and internal team members to help keep claims moving, identify roadblocks, and provide clear communication and practical guidance.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and prioritize an assigned inventory of workers’ compensation claims.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on workers’ compensation claim questions, updates, expectations, and next steps.
- Communicate regularly with carrier adjusters, TPAs, clients, and internal team members to help keep claims moving forward.
- Review claim status, identify delays or concerns, and recommend appropriate next steps.
- Advocate for client priorities while maintaining professional and productive relationships with claim adjusters and other stakeholders.
- Recognize when significant claim issues need to be escalated and keep appropriate stakeholders informed.
- Prepare claim summaries, reports, and updates for clients, Risk Consultants, carriers, stewardship meetings, and renewal conversations.
- Participate in formal claims review meetings, stewardship meetings, and renewal discussions by presenting claim summaries, trends, and action plans.
- Document claim activity in the agency management system, including notes, activities, emails, and attachments.
- Assist with internal reviews of clients’ experience modification factors.
- Research workers’ compensation rules and requirements, including New York and other states as needed, and translate findings into practical client guidance.
- Serve as an internal resource and educator on workers’ compensation claim topics, claim process expectations, and best practices.
What Success Looks Like
- You communicate with clients before they have to ask for updates.
- You help clients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the claim process.
- You use technical knowledge to identify issues, ask the right questions, and help move claims toward resolution.
- You build strong working relationships with adjusters, clients, Risk Consultants, and internal team members.
- You stay organized, document thoroughly, and follow through consistently.
- You balance empathy with professionalism when clients are frustrated, confused, or under pressure.
- You enjoy being part of a collaborative team and helping define a growing claims advocacy function.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years of insurance claims experience, with workers’ compensation experience strongly preferred.
- Current claims adjuster license required.
- Strong understanding of workers’ compensation claims, claim handling practices, and the claim process.
- Knowledge of New York workers’ compensation statutes and the ability to research and apply other states’ workers’ compensation requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to explain technical claim information clearly to business owners, HR contacts, and internal partners.
- Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Comfort working with agency management systems, carrier/TPA systems, Microsoft Office, and claim documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
This May Be a Good Fit If You
- Enjoy workers’ compensation claims but want a role with more client connection and advocacy.
- Like solving problems and helping people understand what is happening with a claim.
- Are motivated by positive outcomes, not just closing files.
- Can build trust with business owners, HR contacts, adjusters, and internal partners.
- Are comfortable being proactive and following up until issues are resolved.
- Want to use your technical claims knowledge in a role that supports clients, colleagues, and the broader agency.
