Position of Claims Coordinator and Assistant Risk Manager

Job Description:

Work closely with clients, and the agency’s head of risk management, in different industries to mitigate their exposure to various potential risks they face every day. When losses do occur, be able to work with the client’s carrier(s), the client, the producer, and the account executive to resolve insurance related issues that arise from the loss. You will be the driver of getting the claim communicated and handled from start to finish. On more complicated and/or larger claims, the head of risk management will work collaboratively with you to finalize a resolution.

Daily Job Tasks:

  • Communicate and be empathic with client when receiving a claim
  • Gather, organize, and communicate the details of the claim clearly and concisely
  • Look at clients’ policies and determine where the claim needs to be submitted

*Many of our clients have policies with several different carriers*

  • Turn claim in expiditously and with the most complete information available
  • Speak with client and/or claimant involved to get a statement, obtain all necessary documentation, organize and save the needed items, and provide them to the appropriate adjuster(s) with explanations
  • Appropriately set expectations for both our client and the claimant
  • Communicate with carrier on a schedule and keep client informed
  • Follow up with involved parties regarding progress claim one day after it was filed, three days after, five days after, then on weekly basis until claim is closed
  • Keep Client, Producer, Account Executive informed on updates of the claim
  • Continually save and document these updates so anyone in the office can see where in the process the claim is at anytime
  • Once the claim has been closed, follow up with client to confirm they are satisfied with resolution and also work with the client, producer, and head of risk management to recommend and implement any policies and procedures which would prevent the same type of claim from occurring again in the future.

Needed Skills and Attributes:

  • Skills: o Organization, communicate clearly (both written and verbal), read and evaluate policies and communications, computer skills (outlook, excel, word), prioritization and execution of tasks which may change quickly, actively listen to what is being communicated o Applied EPIC experience a plus but not necessary
  • Attributes: o Reliability, responsibility, empathy, sincerity, team player, and humility

Job Types: Contract, Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
