We are growing — and we’re looking for a driven, analytical Claims Examiner to join our Casualty Lines Division in Richmond, VA.

What You’ll Do
As a Claims Examiner, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of moderate to complex Property Liability claims and play a key role in delivering fair, timely, and strategic claim resolutions.
Your impact will include:
- Managing the full lifecycle of property liability claims under the guidance of a Claims Supervisor
- Conducting thorough investigations to evaluate liability, damages, and exposure
- Interpreting policy coverage and drafting clear, professional coverage correspondence
- Communicating coverage determinations effectively to policyholders, brokers, and stakeholders
- Negotiating claims to resolution with sound judgment and strong business acumen
- Managing litigated claims, including appointing and directing defense counsel
- Driving litigation strategy proactively toward efficient resolution
- Participating in mediations and settlement conferences
- Maintaining precise, well-documented claim files
You won’t just process claims — you’ll analyze, strategize, and influence outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow within the E&S marketplace.
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience handling property liability claims or related industry experience
- Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience
Skills & Strengths
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident negotiation skills and sound decision-making
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience directing investigations and working with defense counsel
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally
Education
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred
