Job Summary:

The Claims Manager role will serve as a key member of the Company’s risk management function, responsible for the management of insurance claims, claims data, and claims-related processes across a variety of industries, including construction, rail services, environmental, marine salvage, and vessel operations.

This role goes beyond traditional claims handling and requires a professional who can own the claims lifecycle, drive data-informed decision-making, and improve operational processes. The ideal candidate brings strong claims experience, hands-on proficiency with Origami Risk or similar RMIS platforms, and the ability to work cross-functionally with legal, finance, safety and compliance, and operations.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Claims & Policy Coordination: Report, manage, and track all insurance claims for the Company and work with risk management personnel to manage and update various insurance policy schedules as requested. Serve as primary administrator and power user of the Company’s claims management system (Origami Risk). Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all claims records. Maintain claim diaries, workflows, and reporting structures within the system. Audit claim files and system data regularly to ensure completeness and usability.
  • Litigation Support: Collaborate with the in-house legal department to oversee or assist with claims in litigation, ensuring proper communication and strategic handling of cases. Coordinate with carriers, brokers, TPAs, and experts on claim handling and resolution strategies. Assist in document collection, claim evaluation, and case tracking for litigated matters. Support settlement discussions and resolution strategies where appropriate.
  • Claims Reporting & Analysis: Generate detailed reports from the Company’s claims management system (Origami Risk) and provide regular updates to internal teams. Serve as a resource for internal stakeholders on claims processes, reporting, and risk-related matters.
  • Claims Review: Coordinate and facilitate regular claim reviews with legal, finance and accounting, safety and compliance, and business line personnel to ensure comprehensive oversight and management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze and improve claims processes to enhance efficiency and minimize risk. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and internal policies.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in claims management, specifically with experience in personal injury, workers’ compensation, marine, general liability, auto, and property claims.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Origami Risk software; skilled understanding of claims lifecycle (intake, investigation, reserving, resolution)
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various departments and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities to manage all claims administration, updates, and reporting efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying issues, investigating fully, and implementing solutions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting construction, environmental, marine, or transportation-related operations.
  • Experience working closely with legal and finance teams on claim resolution.
  • Experience developing claims SOPs, workflows, or process improvements.
  • Ability to analyze claims data and present insights to leadership.
  • Professional designations such as AIC, ARM, or similar
  • Experience supporting or administering fleet-related claims or driver programs.


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field required.


Working Conditions:

  • This role is primarily based in-office with minimal anticipated travel, though occasional travel opportunities may be available (5%) for training, meetings, or company events.
