Class 2 HGV Delivery Driver

Job Overview
As a Class 2 HGV Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of building materials using a Category C Licence. This role requires strong driving and commercial driving skills.

Duties

  • Driving: Safely operating an HGV Class 2 vehicle within legal limits and adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Delivery Planning: Planning routes, schedules, and making adjustments based on traffic and other factors.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conducting daily vehicle checks, reporting any issues, and ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy.
  • Loading and Unloading: Assisting with or supervising the safe loading and securing of goods, ensuring they are transported without damage. Forklift experience is advantageous.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, trips, and driving hours.
  • Communication: Communicating effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.
  • Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service during deliveries and handling any issues that may arise.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Physically fit as will involve lifting and carrying goods.
  • Needs to be aware of current traffic reports and adapt routes accordingly.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage time effectively.

Hours Generally Monday to Friday 7:15am - 5:00pm
Saturday can be on a rota basis 7:15am - 12:30pm

Part-time or Self Employed also welcome

Qualifications

  • Valid Category C Licence. Hiab experience preferable but can be learnt on job.
  • New starters Class 2 HGV Driver welcome but must be over the age of 25 due to insurance restrictions
  • Previous delivery driver experience in the local Gloucester area is advantageous
  • Ability to follow safety regulations and road laws
  • Good communication skills and customer service orientation
