Class 2 HGV Depot Assistant Manager

Smales are an independently owned, national supplier of Frozen Fish, Seafood and catering products to the Fish & Chip sector, and fast food wholesalers. With a heritage dating back to 1937, we are a business built on providing our customers with a friendly, reliable and efficient delivery service. We require a hands-on Depot Assistant Manager to support our Launceston Depot Manager, the role will suit someone who is motivated, enjoys job variety, working on their own initiative, working with people and the role will involve a combination of administration and local driving.

Our drivers engage with our customer’s day in, day out, and they provide a great customer focus and a professional face for our business, delivering to customers throughout Devon & Cornwall Mon-Fri with no night out or weekend work required. Duties will include:-

Supporting the depot on a day to day basis, ensuring all training and paperwork complies with relevant legislation.

As part of the job role you will be required to deliver products directly to Smales’ customers on an assigned route, providing a high standard of customer service.

Completing daily vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks before the vehicles leave site and report any defects using the agreed vehicle defect procedure.

Ensure all relevant documentation including delivery notes, proof of delivery and return notes are completed accurately with required information.

The job will involve making deliveries so you will need to be physically active as the job will involve lifting products.

Oversee the running of the depot when the manager is on leave

We require a full, clean Class 2 driving licence (or no more than 6 points), valid CPC card and experience of multi drop deliveries is preferred but full training will be given and a counterbalance forklift qualification would be desirable but not essential as full training can be provided.
