Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Skip Driver to join our team in Widdington (CB11 3SL). The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of skip lorries, ensuring the timely collection and delivery of skips across a variety of customer sites.
This role requires a professional and safety-conscious individual with strong driving skills, excellent route awareness, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, dispatch teams, and colleagues. The ideal candidate will also have basic mechanical knowledge and a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate skip lorries safely and in full compliance with road traffic laws and company procedures
- Deliver and collect skips efficiently across commercial and residential locations
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure roadworthiness
- Report any vehicle faults, delays, or operational issues promptly to management or dispatch
- Maintain accurate delivery, collection, and inspection records
- Assist with loading and unloading skips when required using appropriate equipment
- Ensure all waste is handled in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies
- Follow all health and safety procedures at all times
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in commercial driving, skip driving, or waste management preferred
- Experience operating HGVs, flatbeds, lorries, or similar large commercial vehicles
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and defect reporting
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage routes effectively
- Warehouse or logistics experience beneficial but not essential
- A positive, professional, and reliable attitude
