Class A CDL Driver (Doubles Required)

Recycle Waste Services is a regional trucking company based in Sylvania, Ohio that has experienced explosive growth in the last year. To meet our customer demands, we are looking for experienced Class A CDL drivers with Doubles and Tanker endorsement.

JOB SUMMARY

Tractor-Trailer driver to transport and deliver “Recyclable materials from multiple customer locations to various recycling destinations” This job requires a Current Class A Commercial Drivers' License with “heavy haul” experience. This position is a safety sensitive position; the employee has the responsibility for his/her own safety as well as the safety of others.

DUTIES

• Serve as a company advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public.
• Conduct daily inspections (Pre and Post trip inspections)
• Comply with all DOT, state, local and company regulations, procedures, and rules.
• Always operate Tractor/Trailer in a safe manner.
• Perform loading, unloading, and timely delivery material to destination.
• Maintain a clean Tractor/Trailer. Clean off material as needed. Do not travel on the roadway with the product or equipment.
• Accurately filling out paperwork, including daily trip reports, vehicle condition reports and customer work order tickets
• Operates vehicle in accordance with RWS safety and OSHA (Occupational and Safety Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
• Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by RWS or directed by the Operations Manager.
• Works closely with Site Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notifies Chain of Command of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage. (General Manager, Operations Manager, Safety Manager, & HR Manager)
• Notifies Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards.
• Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Current Class A CDL, with 2 years' experience
• Current Medical Card
• Must have Doubles Endorsement
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen
• Must have Clean Driving Record
• Experience with ROLL OFF trailers (HIGHLY PREFERRED)
• Ability to read and understand a map/GPS
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
• Ability to drive truck with manual and automatic transmissions
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Waste industry experience, a plus
• Ability to backup tractor trailer or equipment
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, and clients.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work extended hours, up to 14 hours per day.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to operate tractor/trailer or equipment in a safe and effective manner.
• PTO experience is Preferred but not required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
