Position Summary:
A Transport Driver is responsible for the secure transportation of waste within the solid waste district, delivering efficient and courteous waste removal services for transfer stations and contracted clients. Key duties include ensuring vehicle compliance with safety standards, following regulations, and promptly addressing defects. Candidates must not have a CDL E restriction, as they will need to operate semi-trucks with manual transmission. This role does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with SISW policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues to the transportation supervisor or shop manager.
- Safely operate semi-truck along the designated route assigned by the dispatcher from each transfer station site to the landfill.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with SISW safety policies and procedures to haul waste and equipment, operate tipper and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
- Courteously interact with all customers, co-workers, dispatchers and others daily to ensure all routes are serviced in a timely manner.
- Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is always operationally ready to minimize down time.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets and other reports, as required.
- Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all transfer stations are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in the SISW’s Safety program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- Must meet all qualifications as defined under Department of Transportation regulation 49 CFR 391.41, as verified by a current Motor Vehicle Registration/driver abstract.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two years of prior experience driving heavy commercial trucks.
- Experience in a customer-facing position.
- One year of experience in the waste services industry.
- Tanker endorsement

Pay Grade Level 6- $22.53-$31.09
