Class A local driver Part time

Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class A local driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles to deliver freight efficiently within the local area. This role offers the opportunity to work with various types of cargo, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

Duties

• Operate Class A tractor-trailers with manual transmission across designated local routes
• Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts.
• Safely drive and navigate through city streets and highways, adhering to all traffic laws and safety standards
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
• Manage route driving efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups
• Assist with load securing, weight distribution, and documentation for each delivery
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and cargo details in compliance with DOT regulations

Experience

• Proven experience in truck driving, preferably with delivery driver experience involving freight transportation
• Familiarity with operating trucks equipped with manual transmissions
• Experience handling various types of trailers including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is a plus
• Knowledge of route planning and route driving best practices for local deliveries
• Ability to operate forklifts or other loading equipment is advantageous
• Valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record is required
• Prior experience with load & unload procedures and freight handling is preferred

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
