Cleaning and Grounds Technician

Job Description:

This position is responsible for making sure the company facilities look neat and presentable to the public. They help uphold the image of a facility by performing cleaning and groundskeeping tasks, and will be trained to complete and execute basic maintenance tasks. This position is part of a team responsible for the dutiful upkeep of residential apartments in Milwaukee, WI and surrounding areas.

Grounds Responsibilities

· Operate outdoor power equipment, included but not limited to push mowers, zero-turn lawn mowers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, chain saws, and pruning saws

· Daily pickup of trash and debris around common grounds

· Regular mowing and trimming of lawns

· Clear snow from sidewalks, stairs, and stoops as needed and spread salt (de-icer) in those areas

· Edge lawns at sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots as needed

· Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers

· Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges using shears, pruners, or chain saws

· Spray weed killer in a controlled manner in established beds, pavement cracks, etc.

· Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, or other ground features

· Water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, or hoses

· Trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds

· Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch for protection, using hands and garden tools

· Other landscaping and grounds tasks as assigned

Cleaning Responsibilities

· Wipe down washers and dryers (tops and fronts)

· Sweep and mop floors

· Empty lint screens

· Empty trash bins

· Remove cobwebs

· Change lint traps

· Clean laundry sinks

· Vacuum hallways, corridors, elevators, and high-traffic mats

· Sweep and mop, hallways, corridors, and elevators

· Clean interior/exterior entrance glass and windows

· Dust railings, vents, light fixtures, trim, and ledges

· Empty garbage and recycling bins in common areas

· Remove cobwebs

· Spot clean walls

· Sanitize high-touch areas like doors and elevator buttons

· Sweep to remove dirt, paper, leaves, and debris from traffic areas and parking stalls

· Ensure floor drains are cleared of debris

· Rinse floors as needed

· Remove cobwebs

· Performing general physical activities

· Move or lift heavy objects

· Performing work in extreme weather conditions: heat/cold, rain/snow/ice

· Ability to occasionally work long hours

· Report issues with outdoor power equipment and other tools/equipment used by employee

· Communicate clearly and professionally with residents, peers, and superiors

· Properly handling and moving objects

· Ability to gather information, identify objects, actions and events

· Making decisions and solving problems

· Organizing, planning and prioritizing work

· Ability to assist the maintenance team with unit preparation to include painting, cleaning, and light maintenance as capable

· May be required to participate in an on-call rotation for emergencies

· May be required to participate be on-call for routine snow removal (weekends).

· Ability to lift up to 75lbs

· Ability to bend, twist, crouch, reach, etc.

· Must be able to work in all weather conditions including inclement weather

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Starting at $22 per hour, depending on experience
