Cleaning Crew Member

You clean and disinfect a childcare facility to a high standard. You focus on health, safety, and appearance. You follow a checklist, work efficiently, and document issues.

Core responsibilities

Clean and disinfect classrooms, common areas, offices, and hallways

Disinfect high touch points: door handles, light switches, rails, counters, phones, keyboards, faucet handles

Sanitize child contact surfaces excluding toys: tables, chairs, cubbies, activity stations, ledges, window sills

Restroom cleaning and disinfection: toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, partitions, floors, diaper changing areas

Breakroom and kitchen area cleaning: counters, tables, sink, exterior of appliances, spot clean cabinets

Floor care: vacuum carpets, sweep and mop hard floors, spot clean sticky areas, remove debris from entry mats

Trash: empty all trash, replace liners if provided on site, remove trash to dumpster

Glass: clean interior entry glass and low level glass where fingerprints collect

Supply management: use company-provided chemicals and cleaning materials; report low stock

Report and document: spills, damage, biohazards, pest activity, supply shortages, safety hazards

Secure facility after cleaning: lights, doors, alarms per site rules

Scope notes

No toy cleaning or disinfecting

No paper product supply or restocking (toilet paper, paper towels, soap)

Health and safety requirements

Use company-approved disinfectants and follow label dwell times

Use color coded cloths or change towels between restrooms and classrooms

Wear gloves and PPE as required

Follow proper chemical dilution and storage procedures

Never mix chemicals

Follow bodily fluid cleanup procedure per training

Quality standards

No visible dust on surfaces

No odors

Restrooms visibly clean and disinfected

Floors free of debris and sticky residue

High touch points disinfected each visit

Checklist completed each shift

Preferred experience and skills

Prior commercial cleaning experience preferred

Reliable and detail oriented

Able to work independently and follow a checklist

Able to lift 25 to 50 lbs and stand, bend, and kneel during shift

Professional and discreet in childcare environment

Typical schedule

Evenings after closing or early mornings before opening. Frequency varies by contract.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
