Cleared, Unarmed Security Officer

Golden Seal Enterprises is looking for a professional security officer with an ACTIVE government SECRET clearance. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, possibly more Monday through Friday only. This is an outdoor position monitoring construction workers. Hours are TBD but during the day and no weekends.

Summary/Objective

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property, personnel, and information. Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities and to detect the presence of unauthorized persons in unauthorized areas. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.

Essential Functions

All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.

  • Patrols assigned site on foot; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, faulty access control systems, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, suspicious behavior, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons; inspects buildings and grounds.
  • Assists in controlling access to client location through the designated admittance process according to client procedure; acts upon any access control violations observed; provides periodic escorts to visitors.
  • Provides excellent customer service to the client, guests, and visitors.
  • Monitors entrances and exits; acts to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry; in a calm manner directs persons to leave the property as needed upon client request.
  • Observes and reports incidents, suspicious activity, or safety/security concerns to client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances and/or as required by the site.
  • Communicates in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations; to the extent authorized.
  • Acts to ensure that all property removal is conducted within appropriate policy requirements and in accord with client standards.
  • Carries out other tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned site.
  • Upholds and abides by the GSE Security Officer Standards of Conduct and the DCJS Code of Ethics.
  • Completes required training to maintain DCJS registration and access to client computers and systems as needed.

Work Environment

This job operates on a construction site and will be outdoors. This role routinely uses standard duty equipment such as flashlights, medical supplies, hand-held radios, and phones.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to patrol by foot, walk, observe, talk, type and write reports, hear and respond to emergencies. This is largely a physically active role.

Required Education and Experience and Clearance

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; related experience preferred, but not essential.
  • Must have an active DOD Secret clearance.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior military, law enforcement, or private security experience/training preferred, but not essential.
  • Active individual registration in private security with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services preferred, but not essential.
  • Current certification in basic First Aid, CPR, and AED preferred, but not essential.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Able to obtain and keep an active Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services registration in applicable categories, to include passing a background check.
  • Able to maintain active, secret clearance.
  • Able to pass a drug test.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

  • Must be a legal U.S. citizen.
  • Able to obtain and keep an active U.S. Department of Defense “Secret” level clearance.
