Clerk to Council
Barnwell County Government is accepting applications for the position of Clerk to County Council. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing direct administrative support to the County Council and the Administrator as necessary to maintain and execute various administrative functions.
Attends meetings of the County Council and is primarily responsible for keeping the minutes of County Council meetings and for publication, indexing, filing and safekeeping of all Council proceedings, ordinances, resolutions and legal notices in accordance with state statutes, Code regulations and established procedures. Additional responsibilities include codifying ordinances, records management to be conducted in accordance to state requirements, performing a variety of miscellaneous administrative duties, as well as receiving and referring citizen complaints (or handling them, if appropriate). Reports to the County Administrator.
High School Diploma and three to five years of administrative experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides required skills, knowledge and abilities. Must have a valid driver’s license.
