Position Overview

We are seeking a Client Development Attorney to join our practice, with a primary focus on case intake, client acquisition, and cross-border (U.S.–China) intellectual property and commercial dispute matters.

This role is ideal for an attorney who is legally trained, business-minded, and comfortable engaging clients, including through content creation, social media, and personal branding (legal IP).
The position works closely with our litigation team and partners and plays a key role in originating matters, qualifying cases, and converting leads into active engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective U.S. and China-based clients
  • Conduct initial case evaluations, client consultations, and matter intake for IP and commercial disputes
  • Explain litigation strategies, jurisdictional options, timelines, and risks to clients in a clear and practical manner
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys and partners to transition qualified matters into active cases
  • Participate in marketing and business development, including:
  • Legal content creation (articles, short videos, social media posts)
  • Personal or firm-branded self-media / legal IP development
  • Educational content focused on U.S.–China legal issues, IP enforcement, and dispute resolution
  • Maintain compliance with applicable attorney advertising and ethics rules
  • Assist with cross-border coordination involving U.S. and China counsel

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Licensed attorney in the United States (any state)
  • Licensed attorney in China (Bar)
  • Background in intellectual property, commercial litigation, or cross-border legal matters preferred
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Comfortable appearing on camera or writing publicly-facing legal content (training/support available)
  • Ability to explain complex legal issues in a client-friendly, business-oriented manner
  • High level of professionalism, responsiveness, and trust-building ability
  • Prior experience in client development, consulting, sales, or self-media is a strong plus
