Join a California-focused municipal investment advisory firm helping cities and special districts generate more revenue from existing cash without increasing risk. Optimized Investment Partners (OIP) combines cash flow modeling, optimized laddering, and active cash management to deliver measurable results while preserving safety, liquidity, and compliance.

This role is a high-activity, outbound business development position focused on building pipeline. You will identify, engage, and qualify municipal prospects, then transition qualified opportunities to OIP principals for deeper discussions and closing.

You’ll work remotely with a 4-day workweek, supported by targeted municipal lead lists and marketing resources, with strong earning potential tied to performance.

Success Looks Like…

· Successfully close 24+ municipal clients annually after onboarding

· Consistently execute outbound outreach (calls/emails) to municipal prospects using OIP-provided lists and self-sourced leads

· Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified municipal opportunities

· Effectively identify, engage, and qualify prospects (City Managers, Finance Directors, etc.)

· Progress qualified prospects to scheduled meetings with OIP Principals

· Maintain accurate activity and pipeline tracking in CRM

· Demonstrate coachability and adherence to a structured outreach and qualification process

What You’ll Do

· Utilize OIP’s targeted municipal lead lists and marketing support to efficiently execute outbound outreach and build a qualified pipeline

· Execute high-volume outbound activity (calls/emails) to municipal prospects

· Identify, engage, and qualify key decision-makers including City Managers, Finance Directors, Finance Managers, and General Managers

· Clearly communicate OIP’s value proposition and set qualified meetings for OIP Principals

· Progress prospects through early-stage pipeline to handoff for deeper discussions and closing

· Maintain accurate activity, notes, and pipeline tracking within CRM

· Continuously refine outreach messaging and approach to improve conversion rates

What We Offer

· Base Salary: $70K–$120K (Base salary depends on experience, qualifications, and proven track record in municipal or investment advisory sales)

· On-Target Earnings (OTE): $181,000–$215,000+ (base salary plus commissions and bonuses, based on securing at least 24 new clients per year with an average contract size of $20K)

· High Performer OTE: $250,000–$275,000+ (achieved by exceeding targets through higher average client sizes, greater volume, and consistently closing 2.5–3+ clients per month)

Commission Structure:

· 20% for clients under $20M AUM (paid over 6 months)

· 15% for clients between $20M–$100M AUM (paid over 6 months)

· 10% for clients over $100M AUM (paid over 6 months)

· Commissions start once OIP invoices the client

Performance Expectations:

Post-90-day ramp: Secure two new municipal clients per month

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree

· 2+ years of professional experience, with demonstrated success in outbound sales, business development, or client-facing roles

· Clear evidence of outbound activity (cold calling, prospecting, or similar)

· Strong communication skills and professional presence

· Ability to operate in a remote, self-directed environment

· Familiarity with CRM tools or sales tracking systems

· Must be able to successfully pass a background and credit check in accordance with applicable regulatory and industry requirements

Strongly Preferred

· Exposure to financial services, municipal, or investment-related roles

· Experience with outbound activity (cold calling, prospecting, etc.)

· B2G or consultative sales exposure

· Obtain a Series 65 (or equivalent) within 180 days of employment
