Client IT Specialist - Santa Fe or Albuquerque

Overview
Civic Tech is growing its field services team and looking for a skilled, client-ready IT professional who thrives in dynamic environments. As an Client IT Specialist, you will be the face of Civic Tech at client sites — spending three to four days each week working directly within our clients' organizations to keep their technology running reliably, resolve issues with precision, and build the kind of trusted presence that defines our Partner Above All commitment.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong desktop support fundamentals alongside working knowledge of systems administration and network operations. The ideal candidate is someone who moves comfortably between end-user support and the infrastructure layer — solving today's problems while contributing to long-term technology health.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for assigned clients — building trust, communicating clearly, and representing Civic Tech with professionalism
  • Proactively identify recurring issues, aging hardware, and emerging risks; communicate observations to the Service Delivery Manager
  • Participate in client onboarding and technology transition projects as needed
  • Deliver onsite technical support across client locations — endpoint hardware, operating systems, peripherals, and connectivity
  • Diagnose and resolve workstation issues in Windows and macOS environments with speed and precision
  • Manage hardware imaging, provisioning, and lifecycle refresh for end-user devices
  • Maintain clear, detailed ticket documentation in the service management platform — every issue opened, every resolution recorded
  • Perform day-to-day Active Directory and Entra ID tasks: user account management, group policies, password resets, and access provisioning
  • Support backup systems and assist with routine maintenance tasks as directed by senior engineers
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting: connectivity, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, and wireless issues
  • Escalate complex infrastructure issues to the Systems team with accurate, detailed documentation

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a hands-on IT support role, with regular client-facing or field service responsibility
  • Strong desktop support proficiency across Windows 10/11; macOS experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Exchange Online administration
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switching, and wireless
  • Experience working within a ticketing or service management system
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation — this role requires regular travel to client locations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; able to translate technical language for non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organizational habits: tracks open items, follows through on commitments, and manages time independently in the field
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification (Preferred)
  • Experience supporting Cisco network environments (Preferred)
