The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has an immediate opening for a Client Relations Representative to join the Program Review Department. The person hired for this position will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the program review process and the functions of the department. The work is analytical and evaluative in nature. It is performed with moderate independence under the general supervision of higher-level examiners to ensure participating institutions comply with program rules and regulations. The employee assists with reviewing student financial aid documentation, analyzing program recipients’ eligibility, and providing guidance on federal and state financial aid policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct examinations of school financial aid records, student documentation, and support materials to verify accuracy, eligibility, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Gather documents, background information, and relevant facts related to external partners prior to conducting reviews.
- Assist with providing clear and accurate guidance to institutions on the program requirements and regulatory updates.
- Evaluate institutional policies, procedures, and administrative practices to assess adherence to applicable federal and state financial aid regulations and program requirements.
- Prepare reports on activities of assigned clients, recommends program improvements
- Respond to inquiries and provide detailed guidance to institutions and external partners regarding program requirements, regulatory updates, and policy changes.
- Maintain thorough documentation of reviews, institutional correspondence, and review activities.
- Assist with preparing detailed reports documenting findings and compliance assessments and determining potential financial liability for institutions in cases of non-compliance.
- Identify patterns, emerging issues, or trends affecting program administration and recommend solutions to leadership.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:
- course work in business administration, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, psychology, education, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- professional work experience in customer service, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in financial aid, student lending, or a closely related environment.
- Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with moderate independence and manage multiple tasks.
- Experience working with student financial aid programs, including grants, and scholarships.
- Prior experience in a higher education institution or financial aid office.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations (Title IV, ISAC programs, etc.).
- Ability to communicate clearly with institutions and external partners about policies and procedures.

Salary Range: $57,000-62,004
Hybrid: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
