Job Overview
Tripoint Transportation is seeking reliable, punctual, and compassionate Client Transportation Drivers to transport individuals with disabilities to and from day programs, community outings, appointments, and other authorized destinations.
This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, patient, and comfortable working with individuals who may need additional assistance while boarding, exiting, or riding in the vehicle. Some routes may involve wheelchair-accessible vans, and drivers will receive training on the proper use of wheelchair lifts, securement systems, and other vehicle features.
Responsibilities
As a Client Transportation Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting assigned clients according to scheduled routes and company procedures. Duties include:
- Performing required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections before and after each route.
- Safely operating company vans, including wheelchair-accessible vans when assigned.
- Transporting clients to and from day programs, community outings, appointments, and other approved destinations.
- Assisting clients with boarding and exiting the vehicle when needed.
- Properly operating wheelchair lifts, ramps, wheelchair securement systems, seatbelts, and other safety equipment after training.
- Following assigned routes and schedules with strict attention to timing and punctuality.
- Communicating with management in real time regarding client no-shows, delays, route issues, incidents, or schedule changes.
- Reporting vehicle concerns, maintenance issues, safety concerns, or client-related issues immediately.
- Ensuring all clients are safely seated and secured before the vehicle is moved.
- Maintaining a professional, respectful, and patient attitude with clients, families, program staff, and management.
- Keeping the vehicle clean, fueled, and ready for service.
- Filling up gas as needed and following company procedures for fuel usage and receipts.
- Completing required route logs, inspection forms, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintaining client confidentiality and treating all clients with dignity and respect.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have at least six months of driving experience.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
- Must have a clean and acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to safely operate a passenger van.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and able to follow strict route schedules.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with management regarding route status, delays, no-shows, and client needs.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be comfortable working with individuals with disabilities.
- Must be willing to complete company training, including training on wheelchair-accessible vehicle equipment.
- Must be able to pass any required background check, DMV record review, drug screening, and other eligibility requirements required by company policy, law, insurance, or vendor requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a transportation driver, shuttle driver, paratransit driver, caregiver, direct support professional, or similar role.
- Experience assisting individuals with disabilities or mobility limitations.
- Experience operating wheelchair lifts or wheelchair securement systems.
Physical Requirements
This position may require the ability to:
- Sit for extended periods while driving.
- Enter and exit the vehicle repeatedly throughout the route.
- Walk, stand, bend, reach, and use vehicle safety equipment.
- Assist clients with boarding and exiting the vehicle.
- Push, guide, or secure wheelchairs and mobility devices as needed.
- Perform physical duties safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Training Provided
Tripoint Transportation will provide training on company policies, route procedures, client safety, communication protocols, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and the proper operation of wheelchair-accessible van features, including wheelchair lifts and securement systems.
