Duties/Responsibilities:
-
Operates different passenger vans over defined transportation routes.
- Operates other company vehicles when transporting clients to medical appointments.
- Follows schedules and uses resources as necessary to plan completion of each route based on road and traffic conditions.
- Ensures that all passenger transportation is conducted in full compliance of traffic laws and regulations.
- Operates the wheelchair lift by following safety procedures and protocols.

Assists disabled passengers with onboarding/offboarding as necessary.
- Instructs passengers in all safety precautions and practices while riding in didgwalic transit vehicles.

Interacts with customers in a professional manner and maintains discipline, reports all passenger behavior to the transportation manager.
- Completes and submits mileage logs, passenger reports, etc.
- Ensures that assigned vehicles meet regular maintenance schedules and keeps operational records.

Conducts mechanical conditions inspections daily, such as checking fluid levels and operational performance of the assigned vehicle.
- Reports in a timely manner all delays and accidents.
- Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge and experience of all traffic and highway safety rules and precautions.

Effective communication, written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.

Reliable and capable of working independently and remaining calm in case of emergency.

Ability to work in a cross-culture environment, understands the social and cultural context of the patients at the didgwalic Wellness Center. Understands the role of trauma, historical, community, family, and personal experience in wellness and recovery.
- Understands and adheres to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR part 2).
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Washington State Drivers License in good standing, with a clean driving record of minimum of 5 years.
-
1+ years of experience in passenger transport, emergency vehicle operation, or a relevant position.
- Successful completion of CPR, first-aid, and seizure training provided by the company personnel or a certificate indicating prior successful completion of such training.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull frequently.

Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, and bending.

Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with passengers.

Regular exposure to injuries and illness.

Frequent need to handle emergency or crisis situations.
