Clinical Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Assistant to support a small specialized foot and ankle practice. As a Clinical Assistant, you will work closely with our podiatrist to provide high-quality care for our patients. This role requires a blend of clinical precision, physical stamina, and a compassionate approach to patient care for people of all ages. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a podiatric medical environment, the ability to pivot easily from task to task, and can consistently show up on time, ready to work hard and learn a lot with a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialized Patient Care: Greet patients, document medical histories, and prepare patients for exams. Assist patients from lobby to exam rooms including assistance with positioning them in specialized podiatry chairs. Assist patients in removal of socks and shoes to prepare them for the physician exam.
  • Clinical Procedures: Prepare sterile fields for minor in-office surgeries (e.g. ingrown nail removals, wart treatments) and assist during procedures by passing instruments or holding limbs. Set-up patient rooms with proper supplies needed by the physician or deliver other supplies as they are requested by the physician.
  • Diagnostic Imaging: Perform weight-bearing x-rays, ensuring proper foot and ankle positioning for accurate diagnostics.
  • Wound and Specialty Care: Assist in performing basic wound cleaning, applying/removing dressings and fiberglass casts, and scanning feet for custom orthotics.
  • Laboratory & Safety /Instrument Management: Assist in the collection of lab specimens, sanitize and sterilize medical equipment and tools, maintain clean and organized exam rooms.
  • Patient Education: When directed by our podiatrist instruct patients on post-procedure care, proper footwear, stretching and icing, how to use certain medical devices at home, and other follow-up instructions.
  • Administrative Tasks: Update Electronic Medical Records (EMR) with patient current medications and allergies, verify patient demographic information within the patient record and update as needed, gather pertinent patient information from current visit for the physician prior to exam, assist in transferring imaging and reports from outside systems and sources in to our clinic EMR. Ensure proper signatures and details are obtained on patient consents.

Qualifications

  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift or support up to 50lbs to assist patient movement.
  • Phlebotomy experience highly preferred, but not required

Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

We are looking for a long-term addition to our small team and are willing to train the right candidate!!
